I feel so accomplished this morning. I know a ton of you get up at 5 am, workout, make breakfast, and still make it out the door (probably before I do most days), but let one thing be clear: I am definitely, 100 percent not a morning person.

That being said, I’m really trying to force myself to get up and get things done a bit earlier. With my schedule, sometimes the morning is the only time I have to do very important things like exercise. Today, I got a taste of what it’s like.

Kabocha Squash

Looks kind of like a pumpkin, huh?

I woke up, went to CVS to pick up a few boring necessities and then I headed to the local farmer’s market to pick up a 4 pound¬†Kabocha squash that I have big plans for re: Thanksgiving dinner! Remember my family brunch at ABC Kitchen? Yep, that’s on our Thanksgiving menu. Can’t wait to recreate it!

After browsing the farmer’s market I headed to the Hanky Panky sample sale. Got 9 things for $93. Had it not been the sample sale, my purchases would have cost me about $182. I’ll take that deal!¬†Sometimes living in NYC is seriously the best.

When I got to work I was already so happy with my purchases and my productivity that I got right to work and have gotten a lot done already. I did take a break to have my morning coffee about half hour ago and I realized that I have a funny way of making my coffee.

We have the single-serve K-Cups here and, for some reason, I am convinced that the coffee comes out better if you first pour the skim milk into your cup, then pour in the splenda, and then start the coffee drip. BUT, while the coffee drips, you have to stir to whip it all together. Hmmm. Wonder if it really works or if it’s all in my head?!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Do you have any funny rituals that you are convinced make a big difference?
